A practitioner can be enabled for some appointment types and disabled for others. For example, a hygienist might be enabled only for cleans and check-ups; an oral surgeon only for extractions and surgical consults. This controls what patients can book each practitioner for.
What you'll need
- The appointment type already created at the practice — see Add a priced offer for patients to book and Add a generic in-flow appointment type.
Steps
- Open the practitioner's edit page.
- Scroll to the Appointment Types card. You'll see a table listing every appointment type at this practice.
- For each row, switch the Enabled toggle on or off:
- On — patients can book this practitioner for this appointment type.
- Off — patients cannot.
- When you turn an appointment type on, the Duration column is populated with the appointment type's default duration. You can change it. See Set custom durations per appointment type.
- (If integrated) Pick the matching PMS appointment type in the Link to PMS column. See Map appointment types to your PMS.
- Click Save Practitioner.
Tips & things to watch for
- A practitioner with no enabled appointment types can't be booked online, even if Visible for Online Bookings is on.
- The toggle is disabled if the practitioner is hidden from online bookings — turn that on first if you can't toggle the appointment types.
- If your practice has many appointment types, the table can be long — scroll horizontally on small screens to reach the Enabled column.
- If no appointment types have been added at this practice yet, you'll see "No appointment types have been configured yet." instead of the table. Add appointment types first.
