The fees on a booking show the patient what they agreed to pay you when they booked. There are a few different elements you might see on the booking row or in the details dialog.
On the bookings list row
Each row has a Total column showing the total fee in Australian dollars. If the appointment type has no price (e.g. a custom in-flow type), this column shows —.
In the booking details dialog
The Fees section may show:
Total Fee
The headline price the patient agreed to pay.
"Includes $X consult fee"
If the appointment type has a consult fee set, this line shows under the Total Fee. The consult fee is included in the total — it's not added on top.
No Gap badge
A green badge appears if the appointment type has the No Gap flag set. This means the appointment is no out-of-pocket for patients with private health insurance — the rebate from the fund covers the entire fee.
On the patient section
New Patient badge
A grey "New Patient" badge sits next to the patient's name in the booking details when the patient is flagged as a billable new patient. See What "new patient" means and how we identify one.
Where these come from
- The Total Fee and Consult Fee are set on the appointment type when you created/edited it. See Edit an appointment type.
- The No Gap flag is also on the appointment type.
- The New Patient badge is set automatically based on the patient's history at your practice.
Tips & things to watch for
- Changing the fee on an appointment type later does not retroactively change existing bookings. Each booking is locked to the fee at the time it was made.
- The fees displayed are what the patient pays you — separate from what you pay Fixed Price Dental for marketplace acquisition (see Billing → Invoices).
