Applies to non-integrated practices only.
An Availability block is a time window during which a practitioner is open to take bookings. Inside the window, the portal automatically generates individual bookable time slots at the slot duration you choose.
What you'll need
- The practitioner the block applies to.
- The date and start/end times.
- A slot duration (5–120 minutes in 5-minute steps).
- Optionally: a repeat rule.
Steps
- Go to Availability.
- Click Add Schedule in the top-right.
- The dialog opens on the Availability tab.
- Pick the Practitioner from the searchable list.
- Pick the Date.
- Set the From and To times. End must be after start.
- Choose the Slot duration — how long each generated bookable slot will be.
- Set the Repeat rule:
- Doesn't repeat — applies to this date only.
- Weekly on... — pick the days of the week to repeat (S/M/T/W/T/F/S).
- Fortnightly on... — same as weekly but every other week.
- Every weekday (Monday–Friday) — quick option for Mon–Fri.
- If you chose a repeating rule, set When does it stop repeating? to either Never or pick an end date with On.
- Click Add Schedule.
The block appears on the calendar in green and time slots will be generated within a few minutes.
Tips & things to watch for
- Slot duration is the unit of bookability inside the block. A 9:00–11:00 block with a 30-minute slot duration produces four bookable slots (9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30).
- New time slots are not immediately published — they go through a generation step. The Manage Availability tab on an existing event shows them once ready, with an info message "Time slots are being generated." See Preview the time slots generated for a session.
- An Availability block won't make a slot bookable if it falls outside your practice's opening hours (set under Profile → Opening Hours).
- For a window that should be limited to specific appointment types only, use Exclusive instead. See Restrict a time block to certain appointment types.
