Applies to non-integrated practices only. If your practice is connected to a practice management system, the Availability menu item is hidden — your PMS becomes the source of truth for what's bookable. See What changes when you're connected to a PMS.
The Availability page is where you tell Fixed Price Dental which times each practitioner is open to take bookings. It's a calendar view showing one column per bookable practitioner and a coloured background showing your practice's open hours.
Opening the calendar
- In the sidebar, click Availability.
- The calendar opens on today's date by default. The page header shows the current date and arrows to navigate.
What you see on the calendar
- Columns — one per practitioner who is bookable and not archived. Practitioners hidden from online bookings or archived don't appear.
- Background shading — your practice's open periods (set under Profile → Opening Hours). The shaded area is when the practice is open.

Three coloured event types on each column:
- Green — Availability blocks. The times this practitioner is bookable. We generate individual time slots inside each block at the slot duration you've set.
- Purple — Exclusive blocks. Like Availability, but restricted to specific appointment types only (e.g. cleans only).
- Red — Hidden blocks. Times that should not be bookable, even though they fall inside Availability or open hours. Useful for blocking out one-off windows like a staff meeting.
Navigating
- The arrows in the date navigator move you back and forward by day.
- The date title at the top shows the current day.
Adding and editing
- Click Add Schedule in the top-right to add an Availability, Exclusive or Hidden block.
- Click any existing event on the calendar to edit it (or for an Availability event, manage its generated time slots).
Tips & things to watch for
- Practitioners only appear on the calendar if they're bookable and not archived. If a practitioner is missing, check their Visible for Online Bookings toggle.
- The page reloads in the timezone of your practice. Times you enter are in your practice's local time.
- Public holidays and one-off closures are managed under Profile → Opening Hours as Exceptions, not on this calendar.
