Notification recipients are email addresses that receive booking and practice notifications — new bookings, reschedules, cancellations and product updates. They're separate from portal users: a recipient doesn't need a Fixed Price Dental login.
When to use a recipient vs a user
- Use a recipient for shared inboxes (e.g. reception@practice.com.au), or for someone who only needs notification emails (e.g. the practice owner who doesn't use the portal directly).
- Use a user for anyone who needs to log in to the portal. See Invite a teammate to the portal.
Steps
- Go to Setup → Notifications.
- Click Add Recipient in the top-right.
- Fill in:
- Name (so you can tell recipients apart in the list)
- Click Add Recipient.
The recipient appears in the table. By default they're set up to receive every notification type. To choose specific notifications, see Choose which notifications a recipient receives.
Tips & things to watch for
- Recipients don't get a portal login. They just receive emails.
- The first recipient added typically becomes the primary contact (marked with a yellow star). Notifications about changes to products are always sent to the primary contact. See Set the primary contact for product updates.
- Add a shared mailbox if multiple staff need to see notifications without each having their own recipient.
