A clear, professional headshot is one of the highest-impact things you can add to a practitioner profile. Patients are choosing a person to put their hands in their mouth — a friendly photo reduces friction.
What you'll need
- A face-on, well-lit photo of the practitioner.
- The image file should be 5 MB or smaller.
Steps
- Go to Practitioners and click the edit (pencil) icon for the practitioner.
- In the Basic Details card you'll see the avatar uploader. Click to choose a file or drag and drop.
- The portal uploads the image in the background — you'll see "Uploading..." while it runs and a "Avatar uploaded successfully" toast when it's done.
- Click Save Practitioner at the top-right (or at the bottom on mobile) to commit the change.
Photo tips
- Use a recent photo — patients comparing options will recognise the practitioner on the day.
- Keep it face-on — we crop using face detection, so a clear face works best. Avoid heavy angles or obscured faces.
- Plain background — a neutral wall or studio backdrop reads better than a busy environment.
- Smile — even a small one. Stern stock-photo headshots feel clinical (in the wrong way).
- Avoid masks and dark glasses — patients want to see who they're booking.
- One person per photo — group shots don't work for an avatar.
Tips & things to watch for
- The maximum file size is 5 MB. If your file is larger, downscale before uploading.
- The avatar uploads as soon as you select a file — but the change isn't saved on the practitioner record until you click Save Practitioner.
- To remove the avatar, use the avatar uploader's remove control then save. The practitioner will fall back to a coloured initials avatar.
