If a patient shouldn't be allowed to book with you again — repeated no-shows, abusive behaviour, fraudulent details — add a patient block. Blocked patients are prevented from completing a booking at your practice through Fixed Price Dental.
What you'll need
- Either a last name + date of birth to match on, or a mobile number to match on.
- Optionally, notes for your team explaining why.
Steps
-
In the sidebar, expand Patients and click Blocked Patients.
-
Click Block Patient in the top-right.
-
The Add Patient Block dialog opens.
-
Pick How would you like us to match the patient block?:
- Last name and date of birth — best when the patient might use different mobile numbers but their name and DOB are stable.
- Mobile number — best when name spellings vary but the phone number stays the same.
-
Fill in the matching fields (Last name + DOB, or Mobile number).
-
Optionally add Notes for your team's reference.
-
Click Save.
The block appears in the Blocked Patients table.
What happens after blocking
- Future booking attempts that match this block are stopped at the booking flow before completing.
- Existing bookings are not automatically cancelled. If the patient has upcoming bookings, cancel them separately if needed.
- Blocks are per-practice. They don't apply across all practices on your billing account.
Tips & things to watch for
- Use blocks sparingly and only with cause. They're a strong measure.
- Notes are visible to your team only — patients never see them.
- Blocks can be removed later. See Remove a patient block.
