Add a short message to your booking confirmation and booking reminder emails — a single piece of practical info every booked patient needs to see. The same message goes on every confirmation and reminder.
What you'll need
- Up to 255 characters.
Steps
- Go to Setup → Communications.
- In the Custom Message section, type your message into the textarea. The counter at the bottom-right shows how many characters remain.
- Click Save. You'll see a confirmation toast: "Custom message updated — Your custom message has been updated successfully."
Examples of good custom messages
- "Please bring a health summary to your appointment."
- "Our entrance is around the back of the building, signposted from the carpark."
- "Please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out new patient forms."
What not to put in the custom message
The portal's own description for this field says it best: "The information should be factual in nature and not include any marketing related messaging." Stick to logistics, paperwork, parking, accessibility — practical info that helps the patient turn up prepared.
Tips & things to watch for
- The Save button stays disabled until you change the text.
- Leaving the field empty is fine — confirmations and reminders still go out, just without a custom message.
- Booking reminders themselves are controlled separately. See Confirm whether automated booking reminders are enabled.
